Solving Hotel Tech Integrations Challenges One Step at a Time

The hospitality industry is a unique animal. It’s filled with passionate people who care deeply about their field – about taking care of guests, anticipating their needs and ensuring they have incredible experiences that create lifelong memories.

But over the past decade or so, many hoteliers have had to put their true skills on the backburner. Instead of focusing on hospitality, we’ve been forced to focus on technology. Technology has become the backbone of our industry and we’ve been forced to spend too much time integrating systems all across the guest journey to facilitate the type of hospitality we want to provide.

COVID has greatly accelerated our dependence on technology. Now, we need to become experts on facilitating that guest experience with little to no facetime or contact with our guests. We’re scrambling to install contactless check-in applications, labor management tools to operate more efficiently, CRM and messaging platforms to personalize the guest experience digitally, among other applications.

At Hapi, we’re here to do our small part in helping hoteliers get back to focusing on the guest rather than spending countless hours deploying and integrating myriad systems. Hapi was born out of the idea that technology integrations shouldn’t be as complicated as they are today.

A Solution for All

Too often, systems integrations are overwhelming the average hotelier. Installing a PMS, RMS, CRM, channel manager, guest messaging platform, etc. is cumbersome and often takes years to accomplish correctly. The data we need to make better business decisions and improve the guest experience is often stored in silos and not shared across the tech stack. Some systems operate on-premise while others operate in the cloud, meaning getting them to communicate and share data in similar formats often requires deep integrations that can be costly and require many resources.

At Hapi, we’ve built an integrations and data-sharing platform to drastically and effectively improve the process for a number of stakeholders. At the core, we’ve built a “hub” with deep, secure APIs that allow one system to connect to multiple systems in a very little amount of time and with little to no development work on the hoteliers’ end. Equally important, the integrations allow hoteliers access to many on-premise systems by bringing the connectivity and data into a cloud environment.

For hotel IT departments, partnering with Hapi allows you to automatically bring your tech stack into the cloud. While you may operate with an on-premise PMS today, for example, partnering with Hapi allows you to push and pull data from cloud-based systems, opening up a new world of available tools.

For management companies that often operate on several different PMSs, we help standardize the information you’re sharing between systems. Multi-system operators can drop in one Hapi interface and immediately consolidate your data feeds, allowing for quick pivoting on new solutions.

For tech suppliers, we afford you the ability to grow your vendor network at incredible speeds. One Hapi integration means you’ve got real-time access to data from all the systems we’ve already integrated with. This helps legacy systems communicate with new, cutting-edge technologies and helps these new, disruptive entrants in the space pull the data they need from the tried-and-true systems we’ve all come to know.

Take Red Lion, for instance. A few years ago, the forward-thinking brand decided to operate their technology on a plug-and-play platform, partnering with best-of-breed applications to provide their 1,400 franchisees with the most modern, cutting edge tools. But, at the time, Red Lion hotels were operating on several different PMSs and couldn’t accomplish their goals without implementing a standardized data flow. Without Hapi, the franchisor would’ve been forced to visit each and every property one by one and install hardware. Now that they’ve installed the pipeline, Red Lion has access to all the vendors in Hapi’s network. Everything was pre-built and pre-certified for them.

Also consider mergers and acquisitions, of which we expect to see much more over the coming years. As new hotels are brought on board to existing platforms, groups will be inheriting legacy technology stacks that likely will not marry with the existing infrastructure. APIs from Hapi would dramatically speed up this process and get data flowing among systems in a heartbeat.

Back to the Tasks at Hand

When hoteliers no longer have to spend countless hours integrating and deploying new technologies, they’re freed up to think bigger picture and become much more innovative.

Building secure, two-way integrations is really hard and requires many resources and large amounts of cash. We’ve done much of the legwork for you. No longer are hoteliers forced to build tech integrations themselves – today they can turn to a systems integrator like Hapi and build their own systems around it. This reduces the restrictions on what hoteliers and suppliers can build, and helps them tailor their offerings to what we should care about the most – providing exceptional guest service.
